Gene Identification and Marker Assisted Selection forIntrogression of important traits in barley

چکیده

Gene identification is the process of identifying genomic DNA regions that encode proteins. It has a wide range applications in structural genomics, functional metabolomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and other genetic-related studies such as genetic disorder detection, treatment prevention. There are several methods for finding genes, including ab-initio method (intrinsic) sequence similarity search. Crops typically improved by crossing plants with desired traits, high yield or drought tolerance, selecting best offspring after multiple generations testing. could take 8 to 10 years develop new variety. Breeders very interested technologies can speed up improve efficiency this process. The term "marker-assisted selection" been used plant breeding genetics science since mid-1990s. MAS broadly refers all forms selection based on data. becoming increasingly important today's world because it aids improves monitoring presence absence desirable genes populations. This achieved precisely transferring interest (Foreground Selection) hastening recovery recurrent parent genome (Background Selection).

SNP Marker Assisted Selection for Identification of Fusarium Resistant Melon Plants

Melon is an important crop cultivated in moderate climate regions of the world. One of the most important diseases of this plant is vascular wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. melonis (Fom). Infection of farm by this pathogen can result in huge damage around the world. Development of resistant varieties is the most effective method for disease control. Four races of 0, 1, 2 and 1,2 have be...

Genetic Mapping of Traits Important in Barley Breeding

Molecular markers were used for assessing genetic diversity in Finnish six-rowed barley and for mapping and tagging genes affecting traits important in barley breeding. Finnish six-rowed barley germplasm is narrow-based: twenty two released varieties are largely composed of only seven ancestors. The level of diversity in the RAPD markers has remained during barley breeding. Coancestry based on ...

Key Hormonal Components Regulate Agronomically Important Traits in Barley

The development and growth of plant organs is regulated by phytohormones, which constitute an important area of plant science. The last decade has seen a rapid increase in the unravelling of the pathways by which phytohormones exert their influence. Phytohormones function as signalling molecules that interact through a complex network to control development traits. They integrate metabolic and ...

Efficiency of marker-assisted selection in the improvement of quantitative traits.

Molecular genetics can be integrated with traditional methods of artificial selection on phenotypes by applying marker-assisted selection (MAS). We derive selection indices that maximize the rate of improvement in quantitative characters under different schemes of MAS combining information on molecular genetic polymorphisms (marker loci) with data on phenotypic variation among individuals (and ...
